The history of Buran
The Citizen watch factory was founded in 1924. the founding fathers selected the name so it would be close to the hearts of people everywhere and soon after adopted the company’s name Citizen Watch Company.
Successful testing of Russian space shuttle BURAN (pronounced "Bour-ran") was carried out in the Soviet Union on November 15, 1988. It was a remarkable success of national science and technology, which opened up a completely new stage in the Russian Space Exploration Program. It was the first and still unique automatic (unmanned) landing of a shuttlecraft in the history of space exploration. Wristwatches of BURAN line were designed in honour of the event and based on classical heritage of both the Russian-Soviet watch industry.
